Two months and 21 days

Two months and 21days. This is my countdown until i leave on the most amazing trip of my life. On Tuesday, September 20 I will wake up at around 5 in the morning and leave my house with my dad to drive to O'Hare air port to get on my first plane  for the day. This plane will make me from Chicago to Newark New Jersey where I will meet up with my roommate Alex and together we will get on the next plane and fly to Roma!

Earlier this week I spent hours on the phone with both Orbitz and United airlines trying to exchange my one way tickets for round trip tickets. This was the biggest headache of my life! When my dad bought my tickets to Rome in late March we did not know when my semester would be done for school.  Once I knew I told my dad but we never got around to fixing the tickets until this week. Well after an hour on the phone with Orbitz they told me that they could not change my tickets and get us a refund for the extra cost it is to go one way and not round trip.  Yeah that's right. It costs more to go one way and less to go round trip. If you have an answer for that one feel free to tell me because my whole family is confused by this one.

Well like I said, Orbitz couldn't do anything except give us the number for United. So then I had to call United. As you can probably guess this was not a good start to my day. When I called United and finally got transferred to an operator I proceeded to tell her my problem and what I wanted to do. Well we started by canceling my flights from South Bend to Chicago and Chicago to Newark when all of the sudden the phone just went dead! I couldn't believe it. My dad then started to get very upset with the people on the phone. So he called them back explained the situation and gave me back the phone. Luckily they did not cancel my flight from Newark to Rome or I would have had to start from nothing. The new lady I was talking to was much better than the first one. She worked fast and was able to add all of my flights onto my flight to Rome. She even got us a credit from my other flights to pay for these tickets. When all was done there was still some of the credit left over after I was all set so my dad can buy another round trip ticket to somewhere else that costs less than $700 within the next year.

Now all I have to do is wait for two months and 21 days. More to come as the date approaches!
